Skiing in St. Moritz

St Moritz is blessed with beautiful and convenient geography, in that the mountain ranges that surround its famous lake are particularly snow-sure, yet average 300 days of sunshine a year! It’s no surprise this perfect combo in a ski resort draws about some of the best ski instructors in the Alps. Extreme sports professionals also flock here for the ice skating, curling, snow golf, snow polo, horse racing, bob sledding and even cricket. The clientele that flock here are said to be similar to Courchevel, Megève or Vail, with plenty of pocket money and a new fur coat each day of the week. That said, St Moritz is linked with Corviglia, Corvatsch, Diavolezza/Lagalb and Zuoz, plus six other smaller villages elsewhere in the valley, so you’ll find plenty of variety. For this reason we’d totally encourage you to explore with an instructor, even if you’re a competent skier. Why not try instructor-led guiding for your family or group? St Moritz is very popular with locals at weekends, so book an instructor as soon as possible to secure the best: they’ll help you navigate away from lift queues, and know where the quiet runs are.
