Caroline was born in a small ski village in the Swiss Alps. She was introduced to climbing at a young age by her parents. Despite graduating with a law degree from university and speaking four languages, Caroline decided to pursue climbing professionally. She competed for three years in the ice climbing world cup and has worked as a sponsored athlete since 2000. Caroline is a full-time mountain guide, covering all domains of mountain guiding: ski touring, skiing, ice climbing, rock climbing and alpine climbing. Her passion is to take people into the mountains to share her love for nature and help people pursue their dreams in a safe environment.
Caroline, it goes without saying, is a great climber. But that is not what makes the trip memorable. For me, climbing is about spending time in beautiful places, climbing aesthetic routes and having great company. And Caroline will not fail to deliver on any of these aspects. - Michele Gilbert Four days of amazing touring in Chamonix topped off with an incredible heliski from the top of Le Petit Combin. Caroline is a fabulous guide – knowledgeable of the local terrain, excellent at teaching ski touring and mountain safety, and always in tune with her clients. - David Jenson
Caroline also works as a freelance writer, translator and professional athlete for her sponsors. She is a mother to a little Olivia, whom she loves to take out to discover the wonders of nature. On her down time, Caroline likes to cook, write, drink delicious wines and meditate.
Some of her accomplishments include: first ascents of difficult ice and mixed routes in the Canadian Rockies, ascents of El Cap and Half Dome in Yosemite Valley, two ascents of the North Face of the Eiger (one in 15hours), 2 ascents of the Grands Jorasses (once as an all-female team) and the Matterhorn, the Freney Pillar on Mont Blanc, Beyond Good and Eviil on the north face of the Pelerins, first ascents rock climbing in Ethiopia and first ice climbing ascents in Iceland, Canada, Norway and Antarctica. She has completed the challenge of climbing the six classic north face of the Alps (Eiger, Matterhorn, Grandes Jorasses, Piz Badile, Drus and Cima Grande), climbing the last of the six while still nursing her daughter in a 40 hour round trip from Chamonix. Caroline's passion for ice climbing is as strong as ever and every year, she climbs some difficult ice routes.
