Matt lives in the Chamonix valley and has intimate knowledge of both it's skiing and climbing as well as surrounding areas - gained from 20 years of active exploration.
Matt prefers quiet areas where true back country skiing is possible. So the smaller ski areas of Switzerland such as Andermatt and Zinal are favourites. Given good snow the big Italian Monte Rosa area is hard to beat: 2500m descents are possible here in a spectacular landscape! Another firm favourite is the skiing in Gulmarg in Kashmir, which is certainly a unique travel experience.
In the 90’s Matt spent many years leading mountaineering expeditions in the greater ranges and submitted on many high peaks of the Himalayas and the Andes. In the winter of 2008 he completed a winter ascent of the north face of the Eiger and later the north face of the Matterhorn.
